happy birthday to me.

my friends are scattered around the world,
but i found a way for twenty of us to do something together for my birthday this year.

the request was simple.
1. blast wreckx-n-effect’s “rumpshaker”
2. hit record on the camera
3. dance
4. send me the footage

status update on this year’s new years resolutions:

  • leave the five boroughs at least once a month – so far so good
  • take mom to costa rica – i think she wants to do italy or japan instead
  • make three short films – one down, two to go
  • learn how to play the ukulele – it’s… going okay :)

wednesday night’s awesomely bad sing-a-long to the most ridiculous song ever written.

feeling lit, feeling light, 2am, summer night

you know that song by fergie? it’s called “clumsy.”
it’s about perpetually falling in love, out of love, back in love, out of love.

blastin’ trippin’, stumblin’, flippin’, fumblin’

ever since brooks and i met as interns six years ago at ziff davis,
it’s been pretty much our theme song.

so a few months ago, when brooks came home late one evening and screamed,
“OMG veanne! don’t let me fall in love with the cuban!”
i didn’t think too much into it.

but after being around him for the past few, and then shooting them today,
i’m really rooting for gustavo to be it.

no time to clean

we both have three machines at our desks,
but these are our main desktops:

mine.

considering what a dirty whore brooks is,
i thought his desktop would be messier.

currently listening to:
i miss my records (they’re back in california with my tables)
like lenny misses his bunny rabbits.
been looking all over the place for global thang vol. 1.
today, this old mix hikaru and i did at my old valencia st. apartment
randomly came on my itunes.

and guess what was on the mix?

oh hell yeah
(me mixing out of hikaru’s record)

today is a good day.

megapixels, optical vs. digital zoom…

every other week or so,
i’ll get an email from someone asking for recommendations.

so i decided to produce a digital cameras buying guide segment for dl.tv:

0797

i had brooks edit the segment because i couldn’t stand looking at myself.
being on the other side of the camera as me for the first time was nerve-wracking,
so don’t say i never did nothing for you. <3

CES 2008

last year there were about eight of us on crew.
this year, brooks and i were the only producers left.
we busted our asses to spit out 14 segments and 4 episodes in five days
on three hours of sleep per night and lots and lots of coffee.
but omg we had hella fun.

at the pcmag trailer: a girl cannot ask for a better partner in crime.

brooks woke me up around 7am after our 3-hour nap to show me this piece of disneyland
(view from my mgm grand hotel room).

thursday 4am. cracked out, but done!

mad love to the verizon people in the press room
for supplying us with cookies and lattes all week.

currently listening to:
we were

blastin’ trippin’, stumblin’, flippin’, fumblin’
the whole time
because it’s so our theme song;
brooks and i are always
perpetually heartbroken, in love, or crushin’ on one boy or another…
but brooks is the bigger whore. i just crush a lot.

living out of a suitcase for almost a month

patrick refers to us as the wonder twins
because we can both shoot, edit and run for twelve hours straight
for a week straight.

but i think brooks is more hardcore than me
because he parties at krave until 5am and still kicks ass the next day.
me, i need at least seven hours of sleep.

brooks, in my hotel room. last morning in vegas.

we were sent off to the avn convention to get some coverage for the show
and i got to meet my hero.
(yeah, i cropped myself out of the pic because i look like a short, fat troll
standing next to someone who just exudes sexuality and femininity.)

yesterday afternoon, i made a silly short video of my little trip to the east coast.
