no time to clean

we both have three machines at our desks,
but these are our main desktops:

considering what a dirty whore brooks is,
i thought his desktop would be messier.

currently listening to:
i miss my records (they’re back in california with my tables)
like lenny misses his bunny rabbits.
been looking all over the place for global thang vol. 1.
today, this old mix hikaru and i did at my old valencia st. apartment
randomly came on my itunes.

and guess what was on the mix?

oh hell yeah
(me mixing out of hikaru’s record)

today is a good day.

melted ice cream is the just about the saddest thing.

this past weekend, jimmy totally reminded me
of how much i used to love math and puzzles when i was younger.

kinda sucks sometimes how you end up neglecting one skill for another,
however, i do have to add that
djing will more likely get you hot bitches
than solving rubik’s cubes.

currently listening to:
jeremy borrowed my copy of the takeover bid in 1999.
and the mangohead still has it!

best intro track for a jump-up compilation, kicks in at 2:08.

today is my first day off.

if you didn’t know me any better,
you’d think i was totally into furries.

i promised a few of you pictures from halloween weekend.

sorry for the long delay.
i’ve been really, really busy.

unless you’re filipino,
an avid disney movie watcher,
or a total broadway/london musical fanatic,
then most likely you’re not familiar with lea salonga,
but you should be because this woman has the most beautiful, powerful voice.

brandon’s mom runs an organization called a3m
and lea salonga was performing at one of their benefits
so we took a drive down to los angeles to see her.

i’m such a tard.
i wanted to tell her how amazing she was
and how i’ve been following her career for about fifteen years
and how i cried during one of her songs
and and..

but all i could muster up was,
“you’re so friggin’ cool.”

currently listening to:
you just have to listen to know what i’m talking about.

monterey and morro bay

the first part of our trip down the coast.

do you see him hiding?

sardines are funny when they open their mouths. maah!

if you’re ever in pismo beach, definitely check out the cracked crab.
great food, great fun dumped right on your table.

also, it was brought to my attention at the z-trip show that we look like brother/sister.
i think it’s because we’re always making the same silly faces.

tossed in a stylish “techno” bottle, but it still tastes like butt.

will update later with the real reason behind the trip.

a total of six hours on my knees last week at amoeba
digging through the used bins
paid off.

since stickman and brandon are gonna battle each other with the cheese like mc hammer
i’ve decided to play 80’s club hits from erasure, modern talking, new order, stacey q, etc. instead
at the halloween party on friday.

currently listening to:
brandon lent me a few of his old school records.
i almost pissed my pants when i heard this!

don’t stop the rock

good morning!

like thad says,
the nature of old school jungle is that the breaks are raw and never exact.
and nothing makes me giddier than riding two records together until they run out.

my mother calls it intolerable noise, “banging pots and pans.”
i call it love.
and if you know what i’m talking about,
then we should really be friends. :)

currently listening to:
i was up late last night mixing through headphones.

(two congo natty records, from beginning to end)

you know what makes me happy?

a lot of things.
including scouring dollar bins and finding great records.

currently listening to:
i was born too late.
the 80’s would have so been my era.

michael (stickman) told me

mixes perfectly into drum&bass.

li sasaki is my hero.

last night at the [re]collect art/music exhibit:
“can you play something slower? like hiphop?”
“you know, you’re clearing the dancefloor. maybe you should play some hiphop.”
“hey! can you play some hiphop?”

apparently breakbeat is not loved by all
and apparently people think i’m a jukebox and not a dj.

i was very discouraged,
but i’m glad my friends were there to give mad support and mad hugs.
you guys are the best.

the other performers and artists were impressive though.
one of my favorite pieces, by kevin nguyen

but osby and i couldn’t figure this one out.

we headed to an underground afterwards.

shaking my no-ass to ghetto tech with the greatest friends until 4am.
what a great friggin’ night.

i really like this picture that vincent took.

the rest of the pictures.

oh, and graveley came along and was recognized as “the christmas tree guy
and vincent as, “oh dude, didn’t you and veanne go on some photo adventure?”

it must be sort of strange huh, to read about someone, see their pictures..
and then to finally meet them in real life?

sebby has poo-colored speckles in his eyes

sebastian said he couldn’t wait to marry me so he could inherit my record collection,
but then after digging through them,
he said, “do you know that we are the same person?”
i asked (while brushing my teeth),
“why’s that? because you choke on your toothpaste and make vomiting noises too?”
he replied, “that too, but we have all the same fucking records.”

a rather foul reflection of me in his eyeball.

currently listening to:
i can’t believe they took bocelli’s con te partiro

flipped it into a trance track.
