san francisco summer

this city,
brimming with tender memories,
but clearly we’ve outgrown each other.

san francisco fog

elaine told me a love story.

i’d like to think that all documentaries i produce are to be about love,
but this one is a bit controversial and would be a huge feat.

but i decided to drive to san francisco

san francisco buildings

to interview flor mari.

i leaned in, listened intently
and was fascinated and heartbroken by her battles,
but because of the nature her history and tom’s,
and the sensationalised headlines portraying them as monsters,
i don’t know if i have the skills or time to justly tell their story.

follow-up meeting with elaine when i get back to london next month to discuss.

hello hometown

taking pictures on the iphone has gotten really fun with all the available editing apps.

san francisco, bay bridge, tilt shift

currently listening to:
my summer playlist this year has been really chill.

san francisco, california

aimlessly wandering around my hometown.

luke actually took this picture of me with his iphone.

currently listening to:
this is my favorite song about san francisco.

life in san francisco

back into bed, or into my arms.

san francisco, ca

lunch, coffee, dinner with old friends.
what sucks is we’re spending limited time catching up
and not really being able to just hang out for hours (days even) and be stupid like we used to…
beers at noon,
yelling at dirty hippies,
randomly beating the crap out of each other in public spaces.

no one in new york does schezuan like spices ii.
my two favorite dishes:

(numbing spicy cucumber )

(numbing spicy fish fillet)

fair warning: pooping will hurt the next day.

hello sf

nice to see you again, i hope you’ve been doing well.

san francisco skyline

p.s. i always cringe whenever people say, “san fran.”

concrete jungle where dreams are made of

i told didi new york was like the abusive boyfriend who keeps beating the crap out of me
but i can’t leave him because the sex is too good.

then kim gave me a better analogy,
“california is like the cool, awesome aunt you sometimes visit and have fun with,
but new york is your hard-hitting dad, who you try so constantly to win approval from
and one pat on the back from him means the world. ”

but rain said it best,
“if you move home because you can’t make rent,
then you don’t belong in new york.”

and so here i am, hustlin’.

sometimes i build websites to feed the belly.

but right now,
i feel like i’m spending more time feeding the belly,
than feeding the soul.

san francisco, ca

the guestroom at suzanne’s is like a museum for all things darling.

charlie seems to think so too.

not sure how it is in other cities..

note to tourists traveling to san francisco:
when on escalators, whether going up or down,
stand on the right side, walk on the left.

cuts, bruises and blisters

vegas’ charm is that everything here is artificial.
i’m in the paris hotel where the entrance is decked out like versaille,
except it’s not brass; it’s plastic, coated with brass colored paint.

and lenôtre cafe menus are all in french.
except that the cashiers don’t speak french.
so you have customers struggling to say feuilleté
and cashiers struggling to understand them.

the view from my room.

for those of you with large monitors.

“have you been to vegas?”
“yeah. i remember being there, going to new york new york and thinking,
‘christ! is this what people think new york is really like?'”

i wonder what it would look like if they built a hotel to look like san francisco.

le weekend

although i love acting,
i’m not pursuing it as a career.
it’s just one of many hobbies, like taking pictures and playing records.
however, when a project comes along that fascinates me,
i try my best to be a part of it.

and other times, i just luck out.
i worked with felicia on the set of boxed up and superhero last month.
so when she asked me if i would be down to play a high school tomboy
for this short film she was directing, called detention, i was like, “oh hell yeah i’m down!”

carla, who plays one of my sisters.

saturday, cat, tom and i ran around the embarcadero singing and dancing
to the whole sound of music soundtrack.

we came up with this ingenious idea of gathering all of our friends
to remake that one scene where maria and the von trapp kids are running around town,
riding bikes, climbing trees, singing and dancing,
“do a deer a female deer. ray a drop of golden sun!”
how awesome would that be?!
a bunch of us in costumes made of flowery curtain fabric,
running around san francisco singing and dancing exactly like how they did in the movie!

muni bus whooshing by.

the little kid in front of me kept looking back at me, so i snapped a pic of him.

saturday night, josh’s birthday at the sold out kid koala show.
kid koala looks like. well. a kid.

mike relm. suffused in pink lighting.

[note infamous puppet sex scene from team america in the background]

i was trashed by the time i made it to club whisper for the evilbreaks/spacecowboy party.

brandon was so excited to see me that he grabbed my hand
and took me all around the club to introduce me to everyone as his girlfriend.
i thought it was incredibly cute.

currently listening to:
i’ve been listening to mike relm’s radio fryer all day. great, fun track selection.
everything from falco’s rock me amadeus to fur elise rmxed.
you all need to go to his site and get a copy. for real.

here’s a sample.

relm & josie

love my brother

i took vinh to his first warehouse party on saturday.
he was a little overwhelmed because i had introduced him to so many people.
when we left, i asked him, “well do you remember anyone’s names?”
he said, “osby.”

outside the evilbreaks party.

currently listening to:
normally i’d tease vinh for his crappy taste in music,
but i thought

this track
was pretty dope when he blasted it in the suv.

sunday afternoon girlie time

beer. pizza. eight beautiful girls.
and my bedroom covered in suitcases
loaded with latex chaps, lace lingerie and an assortment of accessories.

mad fun. :)

the camera loves julianna.

kelly, one of my dearest high school friends.

in the lounge.

therese, who doubled as model and hair & makeup stylist.

there are some pics from the other series that i totally adore,
but i can’t post them because i don’t think the other girls would like the idea
of having their boobies on the internet.

a kind looking man sat down next to me on the muni today.
he smelled really bad.
i did not change seats because i was afraid of hurting his feelings
so i breathed through my mouth for the next twelve stops.

"Or did you think I was too stupid to know what a Eugoogely is"

friday night, chris and i got lost.

sebastian has me listening to
to better understand romanian phonetics (yes, i’m learning how to speak).
their music selection is mostly mainstream dance nostalgia,
however, while i was geeking out saturday,
they played a song i have not heard for over a decade!
i didn’t even know i was old enough to appreciate this sort of feeling..
you know, it’s like, running into an old friend from elementary school.

currently listening to:

deutsch new wave

"feel feel feeeeeeeel the heat."

by sunday,
i had worked (and gone to school) twelve consecutive days.
i was ready for a mini vacation.
so i hopped on a plane to arizona.

after sebastian picked me up from the airport,
we had lunch with tina, therese and phil in phoenix.

driving back from sedona.

sebby surprised me with a chax bear
because it reminded him of me.

it’s cute “because you’re adorable”
it’s red “because you’re passionate”
and it has claws “because you’re bad ass.”

so like..
i think i’ll keep you around a little longer
because you can mad kick it with my friends
and because thinking of you makes me smile..

today i am back in the fog.

the view from tina’s window.
i like how the antennas vaguely look like people.
