4th of july weekend

at becca’s cabin up north.

quality cuddle time with stacey, becca, alida, scott and tina.

we made our own fireworks down by the river.

more pics here.

stacey and i left early to catch brandon’s gig at 1015.

[that’s my baby on the decks]

bbq at danny’s on treasure island the next day.

currently listening to:
snagged from stacey from alida. the official summer theme song.

if i ever feel better

li sasaki is my hero.

last night at the [re]collect art/music exhibit:
“can you play something slower? like hiphop?”
“you know, you’re clearing the dancefloor. maybe you should play some hiphop.”
“hey! can you play some hiphop?”

apparently breakbeat is not loved by all
and apparently people think i’m a jukebox and not a dj.

i was very discouraged,
but i’m glad my friends were there to give mad support and mad hugs.
you guys are the best.

the other performers and artists were impressive though.
one of my favorite pieces, by kevin nguyen

but osby and i couldn’t figure this one out.

we headed to an underground afterwards.

shaking my no-ass to ghetto tech with the greatest friends until 4am.
what a great friggin’ night.

i really like this picture that vincent took.

oh, and graveley came along and was recognized as “the christmas tree guy
and vincent as, “oh dude, didn’t you and veanne go on some photo adventure?”

it must be sort of strange huh, to read about someone, see their pictures..
and then to finally meet them in real life?

rock me amadeus

dear friends,
posting unflattering photographs of your friends on your weblog
is like worse than not telling them they have t.p. hanging from their shoes.

saturday night,
with the ever charismatic hikaru as my prom date,
we partied like rockstars at the tenderloft.

the forever young 80’s prom party

we left at 7am
and did the walk of shame through the tenderloin
looking like hookers/crackwhores,
bumrushed the car, came home and passed out.

oh yeah, if you were interested in seeing my outfit,
here you go.. [me with osby as ducky]

last night, danny and i checked out christophe’s band on bayshore.

then tina and i headed off to the tenderloft party
but left due to police drama.
i ended up spending the rest of the evening hanging out with dustin
who showed me this awesome short film he made
where he shaves off all of his shoulder-length hair.
“what happened to the hair?”
“i donated it to a charity that made wigs for chemo patients.”
that so rocks.

i can’t find one specific photograph that represents
my whole weekend at the fnf campout;
there was so much going on.

and besides, this is what i saw for the majority of the time.
(“follow the orange! all i see is the orange!”)

some things i do remember:
• lounging in the hot tub when the thunder storm began.
we stayed in there regardless,
i mean we were already wet and it was warm in the hot tub.

• trying to pass out in my tent
but waking up to everyone screaming at the lightning flashes
and to tina yelling at me,
“veanne! wake the fuck up you weaksauce!”
opened up my tent to see a naked ryan and stacey running towards me
and then getting pounced on.

• during our hike,
i saw this native american man,
decked out in his full head gear,
staring at me from deep in the woods,
but then we got closer,
it was just a cluster of trees.
that was creepy.

• belligerent ryan talking to the sheeps and chickens. ba-ba-ba baGOk!

• ethan’s set saturday night, dancing with my friends
and feeling like, veanne.

the faeries, a lovely, colorful addition to the scenery.

the photograph looks fuzzy because my hand was sticky with sunblock
and i accidentally touched the lens. cool effect eh?

fire dancer.

in the garden, we found this greedy little thing that wouldn’t let go of ryan’s finger!

driving home.. this photograph reminds me of the city of lost children.

friends and family is a community of
beautiful, talented, diverse, thoughtful people
tied together by the appreciation of great music.
i am blessed to be a part of this unique community.
“come on veanne! it’s time to for the ceremony!”
“what’s the ceremony?”
“it’s like church. but not dumb.”

back in boston.

my weekend with the girls

some random from our trip to venice beach:

• the strip, viewed from our hotel roofdeck.

• the six hour drive down in 94 degrees weather at 11pm:
singing, laughing..
an suv filled with guys flashed us with a drawn picture of a penis.
“ew!” so we drew boobies on a piece of paper and flashed them with it.

• rollerskating up and down the strip.

vi, stacey and me.
(i didn’t post the group pic so that one of the other girls could do it on their lj)

• cruising down sunset boulevard,
blasting digital underground’s kiss you back,
“shimmy shimmy cocopuff..”
and making up silly hiphop dance routines in the car.

• at some club on sunset boulevard:
vi: ew! it smells like ass! who farted?
dood: oh it’s probably me.
(dood walks off)
a minute later..
dood: is the smell gone? so girls, what’s up?

aside from the occasional dumbass like this dood,
sunset boulevard is glutted with beautiful men and women.
if you’re looking just to hook up,
this place is it.

• massive drum circle on the beach during sunset.

• fat burgers… mmmm!

• during our trip back,
we finished off five bags of potato chips,
ran low on gas and the only station available was shell.
“we can’t stop here! you know what they do to animals and the environment?!”
“but they have free car washes!”

• our mascot splooge (sploogie!!),
the head bobbin’ chihuahua decked out a saavy scarf.

i would have been totally down to support the cause
and get rowdy dirty with my fellow sf party girls
for the burning man mud wrestling fundraiser.
much props to them for taking something normally stereotyped as trashy
and turning it into something hilariously fun and badass.
sorry you guys couldn’t do it this weekend. :(

recap la la la

things i’ve done in the past two weeks:

i flew to boston to see nat.
then we drove to new york with alex and joe (two of my favorite monkeys).
i’ve always thought that seeing les miserables on broadway
would be a culminating experience in musical theatre..
well, aside from london.

i’ve seen les mis eight or nine times.
how odd..
that i would be most unimpressed by broadway’s production.
fantine couldn’t reach soprano without cracking her ugly voice,
the sound was too low, the microphones had loose wiring somewhere,
and most of all, the cast didn’t have the *unf* to carry out a solid, vehement,
“tomorrow we’ll discover what our god in heaven has in stored,
one more dawn, one more day, ONE DAY MORE!”

“times square, one of the few places where i’m outside but i feel as if though i’m inside.”

alex, such a hottie.

late afternoon, before getting back to work,
melissa, in her flippity floppity sandals, and i
ran through the fierce, fierce rain.

ruberts by the window, while the thunder went, “bbrrrooooom!”

last night, a few of us checked out the opening of whisper,
a new club in san francisco.

jeremy dances to that tequila song.

harry who’s diva house is so geigh, but oh so much fun to dance to.

okay buh-bye

emotionally mangled best friends
learning that the only way to heal
is to let go,

and fetter the urge to break down
with distractions.

jeremy and i went to church.

god fearing christians or nazi germany?

the pastor’s car. how.. humble.

we went to ibiza with andreas and stacey..

getting ready.
